Living Beyond Planetary Influences

So the Lion’s Gate portal for 2024 is coming soon.

We have a Chiron Retrograde too, at this time of this writing.

And we all know what Mercury Retrograde means for us all…

So how we do steer the boat straight, with all these heavenly influences pulling our strings?

While reality can be subjective, one thing I think many of us can agree upon is there is an internal, personal world we experience and an external one. Both intersect and interact in a cause-and-effect kind of way and sometimes one of these worlds shapes the other more. This is an everyday occurrence for most of us, but can be felt even more intensely when cosmic shifts, solar flares and even strong weather patterns, interact with the Earth (I just had an image of giant cat’s paws in the sky slapping little fish around down on Earth!).

During cosmic shifts, minerals, plants, animals and humans usually begin to react. When strong wings pick up, horses have been known to prick up their ears and dash about wildly. Domestic pets have been reported to stay indoors, close to their owners, when there’s heavy solar flares. And humans - well, we all know how confronted we get by planetary movements, like when Mother Scorpio Moon brings that murky mirror up from the “deal with later” compartment of the soul!

This can be a very hard act to juggle, navigating the path ahead when there’s a lot going on above and around us. How much do we allow ourselves to be guided by external forces, while already working with existing inner feelings? Sure, outside influences can tell us a lot about ourselves in how we respond (that’s another topic for another time!), but when cosmic activity gets overwhelming, how do we stand strong and not topple over?

In my Readings, I am often guided to encourage people to fill their own cup. I see the cup as our Soul Container and what we fill it with is… essentially Us…thereby creating a stronger sense of Self. We are less likely to be impacted negatively by anything that goes on around us.

This concept is different from living in a bubble. Blissful bubbles can be cathartic when we just need to switch off, go to ground and self nurture. And it can also be helpful to pay attention to what the outside world wants to teach us. However, the idea we’re focusing on today is how to stand strong when we begin to feel depleted by external forces.

When it comes to filling our cups, it’s good to set gentle expectations on ourselves, as it can take time and care to achieve this. Also, I’ve observed that when our cup gets to that 3/4 mark full, it’s very difficult for outside influences to fill the rest up. I figure it’s harder for smaller quantities of introduced “ingredients” to dilute and divert our inner “wine”.

When I work with individual clients, there are many channelled visualisations and spiritual practises I personalise for each person, like little spiritual prescriptions, so people can confidently fill their own soul containers (if this sounds helpful to you, please reach out for a session if you’d like some personalised guidance).

However, I wanted to share a few general ideas to inspire everyone today. Let’s call it a “Mini Handbook to Filling your own Cup”!

  1. Knowledge is power. Simply by knowing that filling your cup makes you less likely to be batted around by cosmic influences can be effective in itself. In my opinion, this inner knowing fills your cup to the 1/4 mark. It sets a kind of precedence that we can depend on, like a tried and trusted Lore: “Filleth thy cup and be less trampleth’d upon”.

  2. Great Loves. Get out the good old journal and write about what you love in this life. Rainbows, unicorns, beautiufl koi fish, yummy Tibetan momos, cheeky chippies or chocolates? Whatever you love in this life, write it down! Then write down like feelings or states of being you enjoy experiencing. Like being calm, blissful, restful, energised, contemplative, creative. Your response to the things you love internally and externally help make you uniquely You! There, you’ve just filled another 1/4 of your cup.

  3. Abilities. Next, focus on your gifts, talents, skills. If you’re feeling a little down on yourself and can’t come up with anything, note down skills and talents you would like to develop. Don’t think about whether these things are in your life now, or how likely they might happen in the future (nothing ends magick more than that latter thought!) - the power lies in simply connecting with abilities you appreciate. Scoreboard: another 1/4 up!

  4. Happy places. Finally, think about locations, internally and externally. For some it’s hiking trails, for others it’s high-stepping in Dubai shopping malls, or 5 star restaurants, or street food stalls. Visualise yourself in your happy place and restore your soul. Then think about the place inside yourself that helps you fill your cup. Some like to switch of the mind and rest in the heart space. Others find joy being present in the mind, with quiet contemplation (not worry, or overthinking). Go to those places - and fill the rest of your cup. If you find this step difficult, play a song that takes you to your desired state of being. “Kokomo” by the Beach Boys is my pick!

If you keep reminding yourself of all these things, a little every day, it helps strengthen that sense of Who You Are. And by being aware of who You are, means you’re less likely to be knocked around by outside influences. Our likes, abilities, goals and preferred states of being help establish identity. A strong identity is the stuff that makes super heroes!

So watch out planets, You might be flying into their orbit soon!!
